Good Question...
My son/daughter knows a lot about cooking already, will this course be challenging enough for him/her? Yes. Being a good cook, or a great chef, comes not only from knowledge of techniques, understanding of ingredients, and creativity, but from lots and lots of practice and experience. Our classes are designed to introduce techniques, familiarize students with new ingredients and challenge everyone to learn. All of our classes are experiential, meaning the students DO the cooking. I don’t know a chef of any age who wouldn’t benefit from cooking with their peers.
My child has never cooked, will he/she get enough attention? Absolutely.
What is the value of my son/daughter learning how to cook? Knowing how to cook is invaluable.
Here are a few of the many good reasons to invest in your children’s culinary education:
1.Eating well, being healthy- There are many health concerns that are directly related to poor diet. The best way to cultivate good eating habits is to be involved in the preparation of your food... in other words, learn to cook!
2.Gaining Confidence- Cooking is a simple and creative activity that has a beginning, a middle and a rewarding end. Being able to create a dish or a meal is immediately satisfying, not only for the joys of eating, but for the pride in feeding others.
3.Connecting- Cooking for, or with each other, and eating together is a wonderful way to engage with your friends and family, it is also a great way to get to know new people.
4.Saving money- The average home-cooked meal will cost between $5 and $10 per person. To eat the same quality meal in a restaurant will cost you at least 3 to 5 times that amount. Cooking and eating at home is cost-efficient.
5.Having fun- Need I say more?
Whether your kids want to be chefs, bakers, t.v. personalities, or just want to play in the kitchen- as far as we can tell, there is no downside to giving them the opportunity to learn to cook.
